The Social and Emotional Development Program (SEDP) is a psycho-educational intervention for personal development. I designed & developed this course for adolescents and young adults, but is suited for all ages. This course focuses on Emotional Intelligence and Psycho-social Skills. The learning is facilitated through teaching of the below eight emotional and social skills; accompanied by group/individual activities, and my personal life experience to solidify understanding. Practical tasks, integrated homework, and reflective assessments allow for a guided and supported experience for participants to practice these skills in real life scenarios and come back to the learning environment for ongoing discussion and coaching.

Self-Regulation, or Self-Management, is the ability to take manage your inner world. The ability to challenge our negative self-talk, to have a positive impact on our feelings and behaviours.
Having the awareness to read others and pay careful attention to how your communication and behaviours affect the feelings, perceptions, and behaviours of other people.

This is the ability to recognise and act on the areas of your life that you have the power to control. Owning what is yours and having the internal locus of control to understand that no matter the situation or circumstance, that you ultimately have the power to move your life in the direction you want it to go.
The ability to actively find solutions to problems of a personal and interpersonal nature. A lifestyle where we problem-solve creates a more efficient environment. Here you will learn skills that will aid in your ability to solve problems and make assertive decisions.
To think with optimism is not about always being able to see things as positive. Those who engage in optimistic thinking do not ignore problems, or even think that life is perfect. Optimistic thinkers choose to focus on what is good about any situation and what they can do to make it better.
"This course made me understand myself more in ways I didn’t even think about. Self-Regulation helped me understand how I react to various circumstances. It made me aware about my thoughts, feelings, and my way of responding to my emotions. I am more aware of my inner critic and I’m a lot more mindful about the choices I make. I believe this program helped me develop in the way I think about myself and the way I interact with people by making better decisions. Mrs. Van Haght is the most enthusiastic and easiest person you can communicate with. I never felt anxious or uncomfortable to question her when I needed her assistance. She’s humble and understanding. I would recommend this program to anyone."
"Social and emotional development helped me in boosting my self–confidence and how I view other people’s opinion. This program helped me deal with academic stress. Having a decent way to express my feelings was the most benefit I gained from the course.
The personal changes that I experienced includes making responsible decisions about my social and personal behavior, and having empathy for others. I now know how to manage my feelings and what to do when I feel in a certain way.
Fé van Haght is a great facilitator, It was nice having her as our facilitator."
"What I mostly benefited from this program is selflove, self-awareness, relationship management, and understanding the people around me. I also learned the importance of speaking out and letting your views out to the world without doubting myself. The first change I experienced is understanding my feelings and my behavior towards achieving my goals and my behavior towards other people. Having Fé Van Haght as a course facilitator was PHENOMENAL. I had to put that in big letters. Fé was very open to us telling us her life story. What I also personally liked about her was her energy, the consistent energy levels before, during and after the quarantine was amazing. I would like to thank her for her thoughtful ideas and views of life. This program helped a lot during the quarantine period. It kept me motivated myself towards my studies."
"The SEDP program was worth it. It makes us aware and ready for varsity so that we know how two tackle different obstacles.
The one skill that stands out for me was Personal Responsibility and for me it is making a big difference not only in my life but those surrounding me. If you can take personal responsibility in your actions, it will make a difference.
It was an honour and privilege to have Fé as the facilitator. She is a straight forward person that you can relate to. She shares her past that she experienced to make us aware of the world out there."
